Two individuals were arrested at a residence near Beaufort Elementary today, February 11, causing the school to go into a precautionary lock down. The 1715 Prince St. address searched by the police is located diagonally across the street from the back of the elementary school. During the entirety of the lock down Beaufort PD coordinated with the school to ensure it went off safely, without a hitch. One of the males arrested, 16 year old Gecoby Daise, was sought for attempted murder for his involvement in a shooting in the Northwest Quadrant on December 27. His intended victim was unharmed and able to identify Daise which led to the arrest warrant being issued. Another male at the residence has been taken into custody for an outstanding warrant related to parole violation. A search of the property revealed 4 handguns, 3 of which were stolen, 2 of those being from within the city of Beaufort. Marijuana and body armor were also found on the premises. Mr. Daise is being tried as an adult. This may come as welcome news to many residents of the Northwest Quadrant in the City of Beaufort who report regular gunfire incidents from within their neighborhood.
